Subject:    What IHR training is right for you?
The International Health Regulations (IHR, 2005) are a key mechanism that requires countries, including Canada, to detect, assess, report and respond to public health events to minimize the spread or impact across borders.

Within the Emergency Management Branch, the International Health Regulations Policy Team has developed various training and awareness tools to ensure Canada continues to fulfil its obligations under the IHR. Depending on your level of involvement with the IHR, we encourage you to follow the learning paths below.

For the Learners (e.g., those who are curious about the IHR and enjoy learning about various aspects of what PHAC/HC employees do to support IHR implementation)

We encourage you to:
· Save a link to our three new IHR infographics;
· Complete our online Course 1 – Introduction to the International Health Regulations – A Canadian Perspective (requires a PHAC Training Portal account);
· Discuss with your Manager if a tailored group training session, led by the IHR Policy Team, might be useful for your group.

For the Specialists (e.g., those who support and implement IHR work in collaboration with provinces and territories, assessing and reporting public health events, and are involved in IHR monitoring and evaluation, etc.)

In addition to the above, we also encourage you to:
· Complete our online Course 2 – IHR (2005) Assessment and Reporting Requirements – Application in a Canadian Context (requires a PHAC Training Portal account);
· Join the IHR Technical/Program Lead SharePoint Site;
· Consider applying for the annual IHR Ambassador Training.
